About us: 400+ years of the Pehlemann and Pehleman family

Peter Pehlemann died in 1701 at the age of 79 in Zernickow - which, according to the documentation, is 1622 as his year of birth, and according to current knowledge, Peter can be counted as our first generation

The entry from the church death register for our ancestor, the old farmer Peter Pehlemann (*1622 - †1701) as a reproduction.

More than 400 years of history of our family with around 15 generations scattered across many countries around the world can no longer be accurately summarized on just one piece of paper. The family's evidence goes back to our ancestor, the old farmer Peter Pehlemann I, with his entry in the church death register of his death at the age of 79 on April 17, 1701. This determines "the hour of birth" of the Pehlemann family from 1622 with an origin from the Oderbruch in the village of Zernickow near Seelow in the Mark Brandenburg in Germany.

The Pehlemann and Pehleman family 🙂😉😂😎 has (according to criteria of birth, place of residence, home or place of burial of family members and from documents documented by name that can no longer be traced) worldwide regional connections to Germany as the country of origin as well as to Belgium, Finland, France and Kaliningrad Oblast, Italy, Canada, Namibia, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, East Prussia, Russia, Switzerland, Spain, South Africa and the United States of America (USA). 👍

Theodor Fontane wrote a reference to Pehlemann as early as 1878 in his major books...

Theodor Fontane once wrote a reference to Pehlemann with his literary figure in the figure of Baron Pehlemann as a member of the inner circles of society around Countess Amelie and her residence at Guse Castle in Brandenburg; this was not much nice written with praise by Fontane in his work "Before the Storm".

You can put it under your pillow - I have put the book on my bookshelf with Fontane's complete works.

"Pehlemann, judge of Zernickow"

This is for the information of historians in the building authority of the town of Seelow in Brandenburg (Germany): At the time of the award (of two acres in Hackenow) in 1755 to judge Peter Pehlemann of Zernickow by Adolf von der Marwitz, judge Pehlemann was also the feudal mayor in Zernickow - as also recorded in the Pehlemann family tree (since 1622) in the 1st to 3rd generation (of the 15th generation currently).

Zernickow was therefore an independent village in 1755;
Zernickow was at first incorporated into town of Seelow in 1939.

Note: Royal Prussian district courts probably existed for the whole country at first from 1879.

The status of the genealogy in the family has remained the same for a long time as it was in 1957...

...that corresponds to about the 12th generation in the Pehlemann and Pehlemann family.

I have looked through some of my archive documents, so I believe that a connection to the 15th generation may be possible in some cases. I would like to make this available to the family on this website by 2024/2025 for further completion, if... yes, if my time allows and my eyes can hold out.

Here is a word about the origin of the family history (over just under 400 years) and the family tree up to the 20th century (the family "celebrated" the 400th anniversary of the Pehlemann and Pehlemann family in 2024 without a party 😢 ). But it goes on 👍 !! That's why I call it 400+ in the title here...

The family would like to thank the officer and bank director Walter Pehlemann (*1883 in Berlin and †1960 in Düsseldorf) for the knowledge of the generations of the various family tree lines and branches, including written family history and many collected documents, and his tireless diligence in researching the family's foundations - anyone who has internalized Walter's work will want to bow silently in memory.

In the future, our international family website will report on various pages and subpages, partly publicly for everyone and partly password-protected, what you or the family members tell us formally or quite informally, of course also from the collection of a family archive (the public only without direct personal references to living people, there are password-protected areas for that). The site is also intended to help establish or maintain contacts, this also applies to the environment around the Pehleman/n family with relatives not only in the paternal name lineage. The plan is to point out anniversaries, events, festivals, schools, cemeteries, places and even the achievements of relatives, etc.

So everyone is invited to contribute something so that life in and from the family can be brought a little closer to everyone.
